Iris wins DSHS Youngster of the Year award

2 October 2018

After Brighton Bay of Emma Augier de Moussac and Chica B Z of Martin Fuchs, the DSHS Youngster of the Year award has been handed out to the Starpower mare Iris tonight. She is one of the successful talents that Manton Grange Stables has purchased on the Dutch Sport Horse Sales, and she achieved this year already nine (!) International winning results.

During the 15th edition of the Dutch Sport Horse Sales, this award was presented for the third year to the most striking young showjumper which has been sold at this auction. The performances of the DSHS horses of the Manton Grange Stables were remarkable all year round. Both Haufóm (by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve), Harvard HX (by Bustique) and Iris (by Starpower) have performed outstanding in the international Youngster Tour this season. The number of victories has been decisive and with that the Starpower mare Iris (ds.Larino) has been chosen as the most promising horse.

Nine victories
Under the saddle of Irish rider Conor McMahon, the mare which has been purchased last year at the Dutch Sport Horse Sales, claimed no less than nine victories in 2018. In Bonheiden, four times in Knokke, twice in Opglabbeek, Villeneuve-Loubet and Valkenswaard, Iris and Conor proved to be unbeatable in international classes. With this, the mare can already look back on a fantastic season. The Starpower mare was bred by H. and G. Schipper from IJsselmuiden (NL) and was purchased as a four-year-old by Stal Hendrix. Ridden by Tim van den Oetelaar the mare showed her qualities last year and ended up in the top-10 of the Stal Hendrix competition.

Award for the team
The DSHS Youngster of the Year award is made by the Limburg artist Jos Dirix and is handed over to the team behind this very special five year old mare. Mr. Gultz as owner of the Manton Grange Stables, Conor McMahon as rider of Iris and Tom Slattery as the coach. Congrats to all!
