Tabea W Z smashes all DSHS records with 1.28 Million Euros

It was already clear over the past few weeks that the horses from the 22nd edition of the Dutch Sport Horse Sales were in high demand, and tonight that was confirmed in spectacular fashion. The exceptionally talented Toulon daughter Tabea W Z was knocked down for 1.28 million euros to an American buyer, the highest amount ever paid at the DSHS. In doing so, she not only lifted herself to record heights, but also the average of the entire auction: for the first time, the horses fetched an average of more than 300,000 euros.

It became a memorable evening at the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre. Tonight once again confirmed that international buyers, even in economically uncertain times, are willing to dig deep into their pockets for thoroughly trained top talents from Stal Hendrix’s pool.

Great appreciation
Record breaking auction topper Tabea W Z (by Toulon) was not the only standout, as Cape Coral RBF Z offspring Pink Floyd HX SF also provided a captivating bidding duel. In the end, auctioneer Koen Olaerts brought down the hammer at 520,000 euros, and for that price this six-year-old gelding, just like Tabea W Z, is heading to the United States. “After such a fantastic auction, we cannot be anything but extremely satisfied”, says Michel Hendrix. “Every year we try to raise the bar even higher, and this year, for the first time, we added several exceptional eight-year-olds to the collection. That fits well with demand, because people want to buy horses they can compete with right away. The thorough training we give our horses is clearly appreciated, and it’s also wonderful to see that our own HX breeding program is achieving more and more success. Being able to supply such good horses from our own breeding to this auction gives us extra pride. I am certain we will hear a lot more from the horses in this collection. A number of horses are staying in the Netherlands, whether or not with foreign professionals based here, and we will of course follow their progress with great interest.”

Strong collection
The two Emerald van ‘t Ruytershof offspring Pinehurst (360,000 euros) and Eagly Eye Cherry vd Wiel Z (290,000 euros) are heading to the Czech Republic and Norway respectively for strong prices, and in addition, seven more horses changed hands for at least 200,000 euros. The average price thereby came to 305,000 euros, and that too set a new record for this exclusive show jumping horse auction.
