DSHS Youngster of the Year title for Istinov

24 September 2019

With several eye-catching young talents sold in the past through the Dutch Sport Horse Sales, the battle for the DSHS Youngster of the Year title has proved to be a hard-fought this year. With his outstanding record, with already nine victories in the international Youngster Tour under the saddle of Omer Karaevli, this honorable title goes to the Ustinov offspring Istinov.

Every year the DSHS Youngster of the Year title is awarded to a very striking performing horse. The six year old Istinov (Ustinov x Vegas, breeder Jean Dresen) is one of them. Last year he was one of the most promising horses in the Dutch Sport Horse Sales collection, and he was purchased by the Siyahi family and Avni Atabek of Carpe Diem Equestrian.

Sustained successes
Under Omer Karaevli, the stable rider of Carpe Diem, Istinov started his international sports career in November of 2018. In ten months they have already achieved fifteen international top-three results in the Young Horse classes, including no less than nine victories. They claimed wins in Vejer de la Frontera and Gorla Minore. During the 16th edition of the Dutch Sport Horse Sales, the owners and rider of this striking jumping talent Istinov are involved in the ceremony tonight. The DSHS Youngster of the Year award was made by the Limburg artist Jos Dirix and was handed over to the team behind this striking six-year-old KWPN gelding. The Ustinov son follows in the footsteps of Brighton Bay, Chica B Z and Iris.
